It is a non-invasive treatment removing only the outermost layers of the epidermis. Since products will penetrate more easily, we recommend following a gentle skincare regimen post treatment. Dermaplaining is the perfect treatment prior to a big event due to the refreshed appearance of your skin and smooth application of makeup. ​ The vellus hair that is removed is the fine, translucent hair that you find on your cheeks, jaw and neck. When vellus hair is cut, the structure of the hair does not become damaged, therefore it is impossible for it to grow back thicker (a common misconception). Coarse, terminal hairs must be removed with tweezers, wax or laser hair removal. You may book your waxing service at the same time as your dermaplaning appointment. ​ ​ IDEAL CANDIDATE ​ The ideal candidate is one with relatively clear skin, fine lines, or moderate acne scarring. If you have severe or cystic acne, extremely sensitive skin, a bleeding disorder, active cold sores, or are taking blood thinners, we do not recommend dermaplaning. ​ For darker skin tones, prepping the skin 2-3 weeks pre-treatment with brightening home care products and sunscreen is essential to reduce post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Wait 14 days after receiving a chemical peel or laser treatment Discontinue Retin-A for 5 days before dermaplaning treatment​.
